Why I Make Limited Edition Prints — And What It Means to Own One

I don't make every painting into a print. And when I do, I don't print endlessly.

There's something that feels wrong to me about reproducing a work without limit - like it dilutes something that was made with real intention. So when I decide to release a limited edition, it's a considered choice. Sometimes it's about honouring the original: this painting feels too specific, too personal, to exist in hundreds of homes. Other times it's intuitive - I just know a piece should be rare. And always, it's about the people who collect it. If you own one of my prints, I want it to mean something.

What "limited edition" actually means in my studio

Every edition is tied to a specific original painting, and the size varies by work. Runs range from 25 to 100 prints - smaller for works that feel more intimate or personal, larger for paintings I want to reach more widely. But once the edition is closed, it's closed. I don't reopen them, and I don't make exceptions.

Each print is numbered by hand and comes with a certificate of authenticity. You'll know exactly where yours sits in the edition.

Why a print, not an original?

Originals are significant - in scale, in presence, and in price. A limited edition print is a different kind of thing. It carries the same image, the same feeling, but it's designed to live in more homes. For a lot of collectors, a print is where it starts. It's how they begin to live with art, to understand what they're drawn to, to build something over time.

I like that. I like the idea that a print might be someone's first piece.

When to buy

When something stops you. That's genuinely my only advice. There are no countdown timers here, no manufactured urgency. But editions do close - quietly, without announcement — and they don't reopen. If a piece feels right, trust that.

How each print is made

Canvas

Each print is on genuine, archival-grade canvas and is a heavy-weight 450gsm, free of artificial whiteners and offers amazing colour and definition.

Framing

If you choose the framing option, be assured that each frame uses premium, double-profiled meranti hardwood. The double-beveled profile means your print sits flush against the wall, and the outline of the timber won't show through the front of the canvas.

Ready to hang

The ready to hang option means your print will be finished at the back with acid-free frame tape and gallery-quality hooks, screws and wire.

Inks

All prints are printed using genuine archival inks. Genuine Canon pigment inks produce high-definition images with crisp tones and vibrant colours.

Lamination

Lamination makes your prints last longer. An unlaminated print is like a photo without a frame; over time, the corners will begin to tear and crease. All my prints are laminated with a coat of UV-protective, waterproof and antifungal laminate, ensuring your canvas print will last well into the future.
